Deborah Cholewicki

Fiber Artist

East Lansing

Deb works with natural materials and weaves them together in various forms. She began pursuing art after finding inspiration during her time as a social worker. Watching the various adult survivors of childhood incest and sexual abuse find healing in the creative process, she soon dove into the world of art. Deb’s creative process is a way to connect on a spiritual level with life, as well as a celebration the beauty of nature.

Alphonso Cox

Painter/Actor

From a young age, Alphonso has always seen himself as an artist. Formally a high school teacher in Detroit, Michigan, it  was the change in direction dictated by the schools' administrators which changed Alphonso's career. After slowly scaling back his teaching duties, he soon felt  his time and energy would be better spent on his true first love: art. His unique style allows him to experiment with various elemental attributes and work in many different medias, including charcoal and acrylics. He does hope to one day see more of his works in galleries across the country.

Having created pieces from paintings to murals to sculptures, Andrew has dabbled in a variety of art forms. However, his work is most often described as reclaimed/repurposed art as he gives scrap its second chance to become something beautiful. Why use scrap? It is because he was given a second chance at life, and Andrew hopes his work will inspire others to overcome obstacles like his.
